Review question(s)
What is the feasibility, safety and oncologic efficacy of ALLPS?
Searches
A search of MEDLINE, EMBASE, COCHRANE and SCOPUS will be performed. Here is the link to the SEARCH PROTOCOL
Types of study to be included
Inclusion: all records about ALPPS
Exclusion: Doublicates Reports unrelated to ALPPS Congress abstracts Letters/editorials/opinion pieces Double publications
Condition or domain being studied
All liver tumors including primary tumors and metastatic tumors.
Participants/ population
Patients undergoing the novel "ALPPS" procedure.
Intervention(s), exposure(s)
Surgery.
Comparator(s)/ control
None.
Outcome(s)
Primary outcomesFeasibility (achieving complete tumor resection). Safety (preoperative mortality and complications). Efficacy (overall survival, disease free survival). Secondary outcomes
Risk of bias (quality) assessment
Quality will be assessed by examining: - whether perioperative mortality is assessed up to 3 months and whether procedure related mortality is differentiated from non-procedure related mortality. - whether a uniform and accepted methodology of reporting surgical complication is used or not. - whether median follow up and mean survival and disease free survival are reported.
Strategy for data synthesis
A qualitative synthesis with tables is planned.
A quantititative metaanalysis of descriptive data is planned, where possible
