Searches

A search of MEDLINE, EMBASE, COCHRANE and SCOPUS will be performed.

Exclusion:

Doublicates

Reports unrelated to ALPPS

Congress abstracts

Letters/editorials/opinion pieces

Double publications

Intervention(s), exposure(s)

Surgery.

Comparator(s)/ control

None.

Outcome(s)

Primary outcomes

Feasibility (achieving complete tumor resection).

Safety (preoperative mortality and complications).

Efficacy (overall survival, disease free survival).

Secondary outcomes

Risk of bias (quality) assessment

Quality will be assessed by examining:

- whether perioperative mortality is assessed up to 3 months and whether procedure related mortality is differentiated from non-procedure related mortality.

- whether a uniform and accepted methodology of reporting surgical complication is used or not.

- whether median follow up and mean survival and disease free survival are reported.

Strategy for data synthesis

A qualitative synthesis with tables is planned.

A quantititative metaanalysis of descriptive data is planned, where possible
